‘He doesn’t deserve to be…..’ -Former Pakistani cricketer backs selectors’ decision to drop Yuzvendra Chahal in Asia Cup

Rohit Sharma and Co. are all set to travel to Colombo on August 30 to commence their Asia Cup journey. Notably, the Men in Blue have a totally different squad for the Asia Cup this time. In addition, the star batters KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, and Shreyas Iyer marked their way into the squad, whereas pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna also got included. However, leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal misses out on the squad.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria feels it was the right call by the selectors not to pick Chahal. In addition, the former spinner feels Rajasthan Royal’s bowlers don’t deserve a place in the squad owing to his inconsistency. Moreover, the 42-year-old cricketer feels wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has proven his consistency, especially in the middle orders, which allows him to make his mark in the squad.

“Yuzvendra Chahal doesn’t deserve to be in Team India right now. He has been very inconsistent. Kuldeep Yadav, on the other hand, has picked up wickets regularly and can be effective in the middle overs. The selectors took the right call by going with Kuldeep over Chahal,” Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube Channel.

Notably, the newly appointed chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, also clarifies the reason for his exclusion from the team. In addition, the former India cricketer says that Kuldeep Yadav has great figures as compared to Chahal. Moreover, the former all-rounder also says that Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja can bat and give different varieties to the squad, so unfortunately, one has to miss out.

“Chahal has been a terrific performer for India. It’s just the balance of the team, combinations look at guys, Axar Patel can bat as well, and Kuldeep has obviously had a fantastic run. Unfortunately, one has to miss out and at this point, Kuldeep is a bit ahead of Chahal. So that gives a different kind of option, Kuldeep,” Ajit Agarkar said.
