Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has criticized India wicket-keeper Sanju Samson for his poor string of performances in the ongoing T20I series against West Indies. Samson, like the rest of the Indian batting team, has struggled to score runs in the T20I series against West Indies.

While others may get more chances, former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria believes the Kerala batsman’s time may be over soon since he hasn’t capitalized on the opportunities presented to him in recent encounters. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper made a half-century against West Indies in the third ODI, fueling speculation that he may be nearing the end of his career in time for the T20I series.

However, in the first two T20Is against the West Indies, the wicket-keeper batsman failed to score even a single run. The Pakistan leg-spinner stated on his Youtube channel, “India rested Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli so that they could give others a chance, as many have complained that a few players haven’t had enough opportunities. Now that India have played them, when are you going to score runs, Sanju Samson? He has had enough chances now. I was among the people who supported him and wanted him to get consistent opportunities. However, he hasn’t made the most of these chances.”

Samson, making his team debut after nearly eight months, was dismissed for 9 (38) in the second ODI but then made a magnificent half-century (51 off 41) in the third ODI. In the first two T20Is, he scored 12 (12) and 7 (7) as Indian batting failed badly. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, the 28-year-old has a wonderful opportunity to cement his spot in the team. However, he has been squandering his opportunities, much to the chagrin of his admirers.

As India looks to make a comeback in the series, the Trivandrum-born player would be keen for a big knock in the third game. But in this series, The role he has been employed is as a finisher in this series.
