‘He is still going to get…’ – Former Indian batter opens up as KL Rahul loses his vice-captaincy amidst his poor form

Published on

The recent form of KL Rahul has been a concern for the Indian Team as the 31-year-old hasn’t been able to contribute with the bat in the ongoing Test against Australia. Although India are leading by 2-0 in a four-match series, Rahul doesn’t have any big role in that.

It is only because of poor form, Rahul has lost his vice-captaincy in Tests and ODIs for India. However, it is not confirmed yet whether he is going to feature in the Indore Test, although the skipper Rohit Sharma already stated that the management is backing him as they are aware of his ability to score runs and perform overseas.

Former Indian batter, Saba Karim believes that the management is going to give Rahul a few more chances despite sacking him from the vice-captaincy. Karim also stated that the Indian team winning matches is a big advantage for Rahul and things would have been difficult for him if the result of the last two Tests were completely opposite.

‘His (Rahul) performances haven’t been up to the mark’ – Saba Karim

“The signal is very clear that he [KL Rahul] has been removed from the vice-captaincy because his performances haven’t been up to the mark. However, this doesn’t mean that he won’t find a place in the playing XI. It’s just that you can only be the vice-captain if you perform well,” said Karim while speaking to India News Sports.

“The advantage for KL Rahul is that India have been winning. Things would have been different had India been trailing 2-0. There wouldn’t have been any hesitation in dropping Rahul from the team. Since India are ahead, and we know that these wickets are tough to bat on, I personally feel that he is still going to get a few more chances,” he further added.
