‘He needs to work on his fitness’ – Former PAK all-rounder slams Babar Azam over his fitness, calls Virat Kohli fittest

Star Pakistani batter Babar Azam has been one of the most consistent batters in recent times. Babar has ruled the cricket fertility in the last few years with staggering innings. The Pakistan skipper with his performance has drawn the attention of fans and critics.

Pakistan cricket fans always compare him with the greats of the game like Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. There has been a debate between experts and netizens about who is better among them. Meanwhile, a former Pakistan player has now talked about the same topic.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has drawn a new parallel between Babar Azam and former India skipper Virat Kohli. In a recent interview, Razzaq talked about Babar’s fitness and asked him to work on it. Razzaq also praised Babar Azam and called him the world’s number-one cricketer. Speaking with Times of India, Razzaq, further, asked fans to stay away from comparing both “world-class” players.

Speaking on who is better, Razzaq said,

“The main thing is that his fitness is world-class. Babar Azam’s fitness is not like that of Virat Kohli. Babar needs to work more on his fitness. He is Pakistan’s number-one player. He is the world’s number 1 batter. Be it in any format of the game, Test, ODI, or T20I, he has been consistently performing well. Every country has one player like them (Virat and Babar).”

“His intent is always positive” – Abdul Razzaq praises Virat Kohli

Abdul Razzaq further praised Virat Kohli for his ethics and intent. According to Razzaq, Kohli always has a positive intent and he takes his team along. Razzaq said,

“Virat is an outstanding and fantastic player. The best part is that he takes his team along. His intent is always positive. He utilizes his skills very well.”

Razzaq, further, asked netizens to refrain from drawing any comparison between Kohli and Babar as both are world-class players.

He said, “We don’t need to compare them. It’s like asking, who is better – Kapil Dev or Imran Khan? These comparisons are not good. Kohli is a good player in India. Similarly, Babar Azam is a good player in Pakistan. Kohli is a world-class player, and Babar is too. But Kohli’s fitness is way better than Babar’s.”

Babar, who is currently running out of the game due to family commitments, failed to lead Pakistan to glory in the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup last year. However, his performance since Asia Cup 2022 has been mediocre as he has failed to pull out his team in many crunches situations.
