Helldivers 2 increases server capacity to 800,000

Published on

Third-person Co-op extraction shooter, Helldivers 2, has recently caught the attention of many players. So much so that players have to sit in the queue to play the game. As per the latest update, the capacity has now been increased to 800,000.

The game was released early this month and seems the go-to for a majority of players. This is simply because it’s a fun game. Helldivers 2 is developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and is a sequel to Helldivers released back in 2015.

While the first game was pretty decent, the developers did expect the second game to blow up. It is hard to explain why the game is fun just with words. On the surface, it is your normal co-op objective shooter game. However, it’s brutal and funny at the same time.

Millions of players trying to log in

Since the online gaming community is starved for good live service games, the game was a no-brainer. However, there was one issue, the servers were maxed out on the first few days of the launch. This latest increase will be the second time the devs had to increase server capacity.

The first increase was done on February 22 when the developers increased the cap to 700,000. As we know, the servers were still maxed, prompting another increase. Despite the recent increase, the devs still say that players might see a light queue at peak time.

“We expect the Helldivers 2 servers to hit the 800,000 CCU max capacity in 3–4 hours. There might be light queues to get in at the peak. Also, how crazy is this message from a studio of ~100 devs?”, said the CEO of Arrowhead.

A queue event with a server capacity of 800k is a clear sign that the players are enjoying the game. Helldivers 2 now joins one of the best releases of 2024.
