Here’s a look at Alcaraz’s most memorable victories in his journey to 100 wins

Carlos Alcaraz’s win over Tallon Griekspoor on Monday at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells marked his 100th tour-level win, and the Spaniard’s quick rise to that milestone puts him in esteemed company. The 19-year-old Alcaraz ranks second among players who have at some point in their careers reached No. 1 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings for fewest matches to 100 victories with a 100-32 tour-level record. In the list, Alcaraz is ahead of Andre Agassi (100-35), Rafael Nadal (100-37), Mats Wilander/Jimmy Connors (both 100-38), and American great John McEnroe (100-31).

ATPTour.com highlights some of Alcaraz’s most notable victories from his path to 100 to mark the occasion of his accomplishment:

1. ‘I Will Remember Rio Forever’ – At the 2020 Rio Open presented by Claro, where he defeated his countryman Albert Ramos-Vinolas to win on his ATP Tour main-draw debut, the 16-year-old Alcaraz had an impressive ATP Tour debut.

2. A Fearless First Final – Since Kei Nishikori in 2008 at Delray Beach, the youngest tour-level champion has been 18-year-old Alcaraz, who defeated former World No. 7 Richard Gasquet in Croatia in the championship match. Although competing in his first tour-level final, Alcaraz lacked nervousness as he stormed past the Frenchman, who was also a former teen prodigy, 6-2, 6-2.

3. Top 10 Takedown – Alcaraz qualified for the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time thanks to his victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round of the 2021 US Open. Nevertheless, that was not the only noteworthy aspect of the outcome. Alcaraz’s victory over Tsitsipas, the third-ranked player in the world at the time, in a match that went 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(2), 0-6, 7-6(5) signalled that the 18-year-old had already established himself as a serious threat to everyone on the Tour.

4. Master In Miami – In the final match against Ruud, Alcaraz dropped the first three games, but he didn’t look back after that as he raced to a one-hour, 52-minute triumph. Alcaraz achieved a career-high ranking of No. 11 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings after the victory.

5. Knocking Down A No. 1 – In the final match against Ruud, Alcaraz dropped the first three games, but he didn’t look back after that as he raced to a one-hour, 52-minute triumph. Alcaraz achieved a career-high ranking of No. 11 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings after the victory.
