Shocking news has emerged from Pakistan cricket. The Chief selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has announced his resignation from his post in the middle of the ODI World Cup 2023. It has left the cricketing world in shock and has rubbed the wounds of Pakistani fans. The reason behind Inzamam’s move is ‘Clash of interest’. It has led to doubts among everyone regarding the selection process of Inzamam.

The thing is that a clash of interests happens when a person holds a higher authority in Pakistan cricket despite having a stake in other organisations. It is termed unethical in many of the sports organisations. The veteran of Pakistan cricket was found to have stakes in a company named ‘Yazo International Limited’. Inzamam has been accused of biased selection by many for his involvement in the company.

Before the election happened in Pakistan for the ODI World Cup 2023, many were happy with Inzamam as the chief selector. He was the chief selector who had picked the squad for the Champions Trophy 2017. Ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, Inzamam was appointed again as the chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board. But the latest reports claim his involvement in some of the biased selections for the big tournaments.

Interestingly, along with Inzamam-ul-Haq, an agent named Talha Rehmani has also been alleged against biased selections. He represents some of the biggest cricket names of the team like Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan. If his involvement in selections proves to be true, it might prove costly for Pakistan cricket. It will add to the list of controversies already going on in Pakistan cricket.

Rizwan himself happens to be one of the shareholders in the firm. So, this might prove to be a big case in Pakistan cricket. The fans are not happy with what has been happening in Pakistan cricket at the moment. Zaka Ashraf leaked the WhatsApp chats of Babar Azam on live TV. Inzamam has been caught in a clash of interests, which has led to his resignation.
