Rain washed away all hopes of a game on the final day, and Team India clinched the two-match series 1-0 against the West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Unfortunately, there was no clash on Day 5, and Indian hopes of sweeping the two-match series were crushed. Initially, the play had to start by 10:45 as the rain had stopped, but later it couldn’t happen and ended in a tie.

During Day 4, the West Indies were 76 for 2, needing 289 runs to defeat India. However, the Rohit Sharma-led side needed eight wickets to win the second Test match. On top of that, Team India had finished their second innings at 181 for 2, handing the home team a 365-run target. As the rain played spoilsport, the visitors concluded the series 1-0 following their victory in the first match by an inning and 141 runs.

Notably, Team India was favourable to win the second Test also but it couldn’t happen, and the Men in Blue had to sacrifice the points in the World Test Championship 2023-2025. Team India currently occupies second place in the new World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 cycle with 16 points and a points percentage of 66.67, with the West Indies in fifth place with 4 points and a PCT of 16.67. Notably, Pakistan tops the rankings with 12 points in just one game and 100 PCT. Notably, Pakistan had won their first Test match against Sri Lanka.

Playing in the West Indies has its own challenge: Rohit

“Every win is different. Playing in the West Indies has its own challenge. but happy with the way things went. We gave it a good shot, unfortunately, we couldn’t get any play today. We went out with a positive intent yesterday; however, the rain had its final say,” Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said after the match.

Meanwhile, Team India will shift their mission toward the upcoming ODI series and will look to whitewash the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. The first ODI is all set to commence on July 27 in Barbados.
