‘I don’t want to talk about him’ – Pakistan allrounder makes controversial comments on Babar Azam during PSL

Peshawar Zalmi took on the Karachi Kings in the second game of the Pakistan T20 league. The franchise from Karachi lost the game in a gripping high-scoring contest between the two teams. After the game, a lot of controversies seemed to have erupted between the two teams.

Before the PSL 2023 season, Karachi Kings traded Babar Azam to Peshawar Zalmi. The four-year stint of the Pakistan all-format captain in the competition was with the Karachi franchise. Also, there were rumours that the connection between Babar and Imad was unhealthy. On February 14, the two teams collided in a high-stakes game in the PSL.

Following the game, Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim spoke to the media in a press conference. He clearly stated that he did not want to talk about Babar Azam. He said, “It is not like that. Everything that comes on the media, is sometimes true, and sometimes it is not. I don’t want to talk about Babar, because the way our team is playing, we need to focus on results.”

Imad was also asked about the on-field behaviour of his team-mate and Pakistan fast bowler Mohammed Amir. He defended Amir and said that, “A fast bowler should be aggressive. I don’t think he does anything intentionally, it happens in heated moments. As far as there is no objection to him by match officials, I don’t have any issue.”

Later on, the all-rounder spoke about how he is ready to give his all towards the franchise no matter what the result is. He said, “As a captain, I am not under pressure at all. Whether we lose or win, I can assure you that we are not going to give up till we are knocked out of the tournament.”

The Karachi-based team won for the first time in the current PSL season after dropping its previous three games. On February 19 at Karachi’s National Stadium, the Kings defeated the Lahore Qalandars by a score of 67 runs.
