‘I feel Pakistan getting a habit of losing’ – Ramiz Raja fumes on Babar Azam and Co. after losing ODI World Cup 2023 warm-up game against New Zealand

The Pakistan cricket team is all set to lock horns against Australia on October 3 in their second warm-up match at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Notably, the Men in Green lost their first warm-up game against New Zealand on September 27 despite their clinical performances against the Black Caps during the play.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja was furious over the loss and expressed disappointment. The well-renowned cricket commentator said that it doesn’t matter if it was a practice match; a win is a win. In addition, the former batter says that Babar Azam and Co. had the habit of losing matches, as they recently lost the Asia Cup 2023 as well.

“I know it was just a practice game, but a win is a win. And winning becomes a habit. But I feel Pakistan are now getting a habit of losing. First, they lost in the Asia Cup, and now here. Pakistan scored 345 and it was a great run-chase,” Ramiz Raja said being quoted by Hindustan Times.

The former PCB chairman feels the Men in Green should score over 400 runs during the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to such batting pitches in host country India. The legendary cricketer advises the Babar Azam-led side to change playing tactics and start taking risks. Moreover, the former batter accepted that Pakistan failed with their bowling performances during the play, as 345 was a great run chase but the side couldn’t defend at all.

“If these are the pitches – and you will get such pitches in India – you will have to score 400 if your bowling keeps misfiring like this. You will have to change your tactics, take risks. And we don’t do that. We play defensively for first 10-15 overs and then shift gears,” he added further.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam and Co. will be facing the Netherlands on October 6 to commence their ODI World Cup journey in Hyderabad. The much-anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash is set to take place on October 14 at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
