‘I think Dhoni got off easy’- Virendra Sehwag believes MS Dhoni should have been banned from Indian Premier League

Virender Sehwag demanded that MS Dhoni should have been suspended for 2-3 games for his conduct on the field against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2019. During the season’s league stage match, the Chennai Super Kings(CSK) captain went onto the field following a no-ball issue. Dhoni was fined half of his match fees.

During the Indian Premier (IPL) 2019, Dhoni stunned the cricket world by storming onto the field in rage. During the 25th match of the season, the encounter between CSK and RR, a furious MS Dhoni chose to enter the field to protest a no-ball situation.

Dhoni was bashed for his behaviour, and Virender Sehwag wanted him to be banned as a result. He was penalized 50% of his match fees. Sehwag said, “I think Dhoni got off easy and ought to have been banned for at least two or three games. Because if he did this, another captain may do the same thing tomorrow. So what does an umpire actually contribute?”

The former Indian opener added, “I feel he shouldn’t have come to the ground when there are two [Super Kings] members already and they were equally inquisitive regarding the no-ball.”

CSK went on to win the match as Mitchell Santner struck a six on the last delivery of the chase to 152. Dhoni went on to lead his team to the season’s final when they were defeated by the Mumbai Indians in a last-ball thriller.

Meanwhile, the schedule for the World Cup in India, which is due to begin on October 5 this year, has finally been released. The last World Cup Finalists, England and New Zealand will face off in the tournament’s opening game at the Narendra Modi Stadium, while India will kick off their campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.

The mega event’s bouts will be held in ten different cities. The Delhi-based batter has chosen his four favourites for the semi-finals of the forthcoming ODI World Cup. He believes India, Pakistan, England and Australia will make it to the semi-finals.
