‘I think we’re not taking T20Is seriously’ – Former cricketer slams Indian management for not giving opportunities to Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan to feature in the Ireland series

Team India is all set to feature in the three-match T20I series against Ireland. Notably, the squad has marked the inclusion of Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Prasidh Krishna, whereas some crucial names have missed out on the Ireland tour.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, the former India cricketer turned analyst Aakash Chopra slammed Indian management for not giving opportunities to Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan to feature in the Ireland series. Notably, the former India opener feels that T20I matches are not taken seriously as the Men in Blue only have 14 matches before the next T20I World Cup, and despite that, some crucial players have been rested for the upcoming tour.

“I think we’re not taking T20Is seriously. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill are not going to Ireland. I can understand people needing breaks. But from now till the T20 World Cup, we have 14 matches. Don’t think about IPL, everyone performs in IPL but that doesn’t mean we would win the World Cup. In fact, the only time we won it was when IPL wasn’t even there,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel, Cricket Ki Chaupal.

I’m thinking from the perspective of Ishan Kishan: Aakash Chopra

Notably, the cricket commentator was especially worried about young batter Ishan Kishan. In addition, the 45-year-old analyst feels the 23-year-old Kishan does not have a chance to feature in the upcoming Asia Cup if KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer get fit and are back in the squad. Moreover, the former right-handed batter affirms that the youngsters don’t need much of a break.

“International matches are important. If you’re playing three matches against Ireland… I’m thinking from the perspective of Ishan Kishan.  What are the chances of him playing in Asia Cup if Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are fit? You could’ve played against Ireland, your first match in Asia Cup is in September, you had ample gap. I don’t think anyone’s thinking about it. These are youngsters, they don’t need much rest I believe,” he added further.
