Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa smashed a blistering half-century against the Durban Qalandars, propelling his squad on their way to a decisive 24-run victory in the Zim Afro T10 at the Harare Sports Club. The star batter scored 53 runs from just 23 balls, featuring five boundaries and four sixes, which helped his side post a score of 134 runs in the given 10 overs. In reply, while chasing, the Durban Qalandars also had a great start but couldn’t continue the momentum and were only able to rack up 110 runs while falling short by 24 runs.

I know what it takes or give a team the best chance to win the game: Uthappa

The former CSK batter was adjudged Player of the Match after his wonderful knock. On top of that, following the win, the wicketkeeper batter was asked if he wished to join the IPL team as a coach, to which he replied that he would love to get involved in the IPL not only as a coach but as a cricket operation head or as a director as well. The Karnataka-born batter further said that he had been a part of different franchises and knew how well teams worked to win matches.

“It depends, I would certainly love to be involved with the team. If opportunities do come, I’ll certainly consider it. Yeah (coach), I would love to get involved in setting up…Maybe cricket operations, or director of cricket, where I feel like, I know what it takes or give a team the best chance to win the game,” Uthappa told IANS.

“Because I’ve been with different teams and I know how good teams work, can set structures in place which will help achieve them, something I love to do. So those opportunities, come up I’ll certainly consider them,” he added further.

Great Record in the IPL

Meanwhile, the former batting great Robin Uthappa appeared in 205 IPL matches and collected 4952 runs at an average of 27.51. The right-handed batter’s highest IPL score was 88 runs, while he has also hammered 27 half-centuries.
