FIFA World Cup 2022
‘If Messi was born in India…’ – Virender Sehwag’s hilarious statement about Argentina skipper post FIFA World Cup 2022
Team India’s former opener Virender Sehwag shared an epic tweet after Lionel Messi-led Argentina outclassed France in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final on Sunday. Messi supervised Argentina’s World Cup title victory in the Qatar edition of the major tournament, ending his lengthy drought for the golden trophy.
Messi scored twice to lead Argentina, the defending champions, in their dramatic penalty shootout victory over Kylian Mbappe and France at the Lusail Stadium. Messi is in his seventh FIFA World Cup campaign.
On Instagram, former India captain Sehwag wrote a witty post about Argentine legend Messi the day after his team made history by winning its third World Cup in Qatar. Sehwag, who is known for making people laugh on social media, described how Messi would have been recognised for his outstanding World Cup performance had he been born in India. On Facebook, Sehwag’s rib-tickling post immediately went viral among his admirers and followers. Shikhar Dhawan, a veteran Indian opener, too liked the viral post.
Earlier, Messi and Mbappe received praise from former Indian cricketer Sehwag for their outstanding efforts in the FIFA World Cup 2022 championship game.
“One of the greatest World Cup games of all time. Mbappe was outstanding for France but it was meant to be Lionel Messi’s crowning moment. Congratulations Argentina on becoming the #FIFAWorldCup champions,” Sehwag said in a tweet.

In one of the most thrilling World Cup championship games ever played on Sunday, Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties after Mbappe’s hat-trick tied the match 3-3 after extra time. Argentina won its third World Cup with a penalty kick from Gonzalo Montiel in the shootout.
Mbappe, a French forward who plays for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), won the Golden Boot for the FIFA World Cup 2022 with the most goals scored. Messi, the skipper of Argentina and Mbappe’s PSG colleague, took home the Golden Ball in Qatar after being recognised as the game’s top performer.
