‘You can see that Netherlands were very passionate….’ – Imran Tahir’s sharp attack on South Africa after their defeat against Netherlands in ODI WC 2023

South Africa suffered a heartbreaking loss against the Netherlands on October 17 in their third game of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, Proteas were looking into tremendous form as they posted the historic total against Sri Lanka in their opening clash, whereas they single-handedly defeated five-time world champion Australia in their next clash. Meanwhile, former South African cricketer Imran Tahir feels this is an incredible loss for his side over the Netherlands.

The former leg-spinner believes that the Temba Bavuma-led side will deeply regret the two points they have lost against the Netherlands. In addition, the 44-year-old cricketer feels the Dutch side was looking very passionate and hungry for this incredible win. The Lahore-born cricketer also said that the Netherlands team outclassed the South African side owing to their great bowling, batting, and fielding efforts.

“It is an incredibly big loss. I think going forward South Africa might regret and think about these two points which they didn’t achieve today (on Tuesday) but all credit goes to the Dutch team. You can see that they were very passionate and they did everything right to win this game. They batted well, they fielded well and you saw that belief in their bowling. So credit goes to the Dutch team,” Imran Tahir said on Star Sports.

I think the Netherlands shouldn’t have scored more than 150 to 170 runs: Imran Tahir

The cricket analyst feels that the turning point was the one where the Netherlands batsmen struck out a great partnership. Moreover, the former Proteas bowler feels the game result should be different if the South African bowlers had restricted them to just 150 to 170 runs over scoring 245 runs in the game.

The turning point was the partnerships. I think they (the Netherlands) shouldn’t have scored more than 150 to 170 runs the way South African bowlers bowled, but just in the end, they were a little bit off from their plans. They allowed the Dutch batters to get to 245″
