Ambati Rayudu, who has retired from all forms of international cricket after winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 title with Chennai Super Kings, is one of the overseas players for the Texas Super Kings (TSK) in the Major League Cricket’s (MLC) first season. The TSK franchise made the announcement on social media while revealing their star-studded lineup of overseas players.

Ambati Rayudu joins a star-studded group of international stars for the Major League Cricket team. It includes the New Zealand combo of Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner, as well as Dwayne Bravo and David Miller. Notably, Bravo retired from the IPL before the 2023 season and served as a bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings.

Rayudu appeared in 16 matches and scored 158 runs this season, mostly as an Impact Player. He has one of MS Dhoni’s most trusted players at CSK, and it was clear when the World Cup-winning India skipper chose the experienced batter and Ravindra Jadeja to accept the IPL trophy.

The 37-year-old batsman played 55 ODIs and struck three hundred for India, as well as six T20Is and 203 IPL matches. Rayudu has scored 4329 runs, including a century, in the IPL having played for just two franchises; the 5-time champion Mumbai Indians and the 4-time champion Chennai Super Kings.

Ambati Rayudu also confirmed his participation in the MLC Season 1 with the Texas Super Kings through Twitter. Rayudu tweeted a photo of himself wearing a cowboy hat with the caption, “Same yellove…. Different continent… Texcited…”

However, he made an important contribution to CSK in the final. He delivered a quickfire 8-ball-19 run cameo to help the club chase down the 171-run mark in a rain-affected encounter and win their fifth IPL title. Rayudu became the joint-most successful player in IPL history with six trophies, three at MI and three at CSK. He was one of the finest middle-order batsmen for India with an average of around 47.
