‘Bht kharcha ho jayega’ – Fans react as Indian Football association shows interest in co-hosting World Cup 2034

Good news awaits for the Indian fans. Reports claim that India might be interested to jointly host the Football World Cup in 2034. Notably, the host for the tournament has been decided already. In the bid to host the big event, Saudi Arabia was selected as the official host for 2034. However, reports claim that India wishes to host about 10 matches in the event, along with Saudi Arabia.

Notably, the move comes following the recent announcement of the International Football board, which decided to allot few matches for the South American teams to host the Football World Cup in 2026 as a part of 100 years celebration of the Football World Cup. Meanwhile, as a result, teams that could not have dreamed about hosting a full fledged World Cup have been able to dream about co-hosting some of the matches.

However, India is the perfect example of it. Notably, the Indian fans are passionate about the sport. Their team is not the best performing one at the Asian level, let alone at the world level. Meanwhile, as a result, there were no thoughts in recent times about India hosting the biggest Football event.

Will Saudi Arabia accept India’s request?

However, reports claim that the Indian Football association is set to talk with their Saudi Arabian counterparts for the same. If everything goes well, India might as well host a Football World Cup, which was unimaginable just a few months back. Notably, there is a good chance of India’s request to be accepted by Saudi Arabia. In addition, the middle east nation recently showed its interest in becoming the joint sponsors of the IPL.

India is yet to react to the proposal of Saudi Arabia regarding the same. In addition, India might use it as a perfect opportunity to have a barter system. If India accepts the deal of Saudi Arabia to invest in the IPL, then the crown prince of Arabia might give a nod for India to be the co-hosts of the Football World Cup 2034. However, it would be a win-win situation for all. Notably, the confirmation for the same is yet to be provided by the World Football body.
