When Jos Buttler walked into bat number three, below his usual opening position, in the match against Punjab Kings, he appeared out of place. Buttler suffered a finger injury while taking a catch off Shahrukh Khan in the first innings, so Ravichandran Ashwin opened the innings.

Buttler will now miss their next Indian Premier League match against the Delhi Capitals due to a finger injury. During Punjab’s innings, Buttler required multiple stitches on his little finger, prompting Ravichandran Ashwin to open the batting for RR.

RR skipper Sanju Samson confirmed at the post-match presentation that Buttler had stitches for a finger injury and was not fit. Buttler went to accept the award for the best catch while wearing a strapping on his little finger. “Jos was not fit. He was getting stitches for his finger after the catch,” Samson said.

It’s amazingly hard: Sam Curran

In the meantime, PBKS all-rounder Sam Curran stated after the game that his primary goal was to get his yorkers right. “I think when it comes to those situations, you know if you nail your yorker, you’ll be okay. Some days it works and some days it won’t but luckily it was our day,” said Curran.

He went on to say that bowling in such conditions was difficult, and that bowling a yorker with a cross-seam is not natural. “It’s amazingly hard. You try to train by dipping balls in water. It’s incredibly hard to hold the seam. You try to bowl cross seam but it’s not a natural ball to bowl a yorker cross seam. It’s extremely tough but everyone has to do it so there’s no real complaining,” Curran added.

After winning their first two games, PBKS will now play against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who they meet on the 9th of April at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. RR, on the other hand, will play against DC at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
