Indian women’s 20-20 World Cup is around the corner as it is scheduled to kick off on 10th February in South Africa. The first match of the tournament will be played between Sri Lanka Women and South Africa Women at Newlands, Cape Town.

The much-awaited game in the 20-20 Women’s World Cup is the match that will be played between India and arch-rival Pakistan on Sunday, February 12 at Newlands, Cape Town.

India U19 World Cup-winning captain Shafali Verma and left-hand batter Smriti Mandhana will open the innings. Both players have been pillars of the Indian cricket world for quite a few years. They are known for scoring quickfire innings in the powerplay. At three, Jemimah Rodrigues has made her spot. She has established herself as one of team India’s best batters of the modern time.

Middle-Order and All-rounders

At four will come the Women in Blue skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. She is a very important player for the side as she has the capability of scoring runs quickly. Harleen Deol, the right-hand battle from Punjab comes at number five. She is known for playing the role of a finisher. At number six comes wicketkeeper-batter Rich Ghosh. She has the calibre to score quickfire knocks at the end of the innings and can also guide India to victory by playing a sensible knock.

Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav are two all-rounders in the side. They can bat as well in crucial situations. Both of them can put pressure on the opponents as they concede runs very miserly because of which they pick a lot of wickets.

The fast bowling unit will be led by experienced right-arm speedster Shikha Pandey and along with her will be the Indian team’s young sensation Renuka Thakur. Their pace and accuracy make them difficult to play for the opponents. Both have the calibre to swing the ball in the powerplay.

In the spin department, India have the likes of left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad. She has picked 58 wickets in the 49 innings at an average of 18.29 and she have conceded runs at an economy of only 6.13. Her best figures in the shortest format are 4/10 which came against South Africa in Lucknow in March 2021.
