‘Insane scorecard’ – Fans react as Nepal re-write T20I record books in Asian Games 2023
A long-standing milestone that was held by Indian cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh’s name was recently broken by Nepal’s rising wonder, Dipendra Singh. Notably, the star middle-order batter made his country proud by achieving the world’s quickest half-century in the Asian Games 2023. The batter hammered 52 runs from just nine balls, featuring eight sixes, against Mongolia in the first match of the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, on September 27.
However, India’s great all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, hammered six straight sixes in an over against English star pacer Stuart Broad and completed his fifty from just 12 balls during the semi-final clash in the T20I World Cup 2007 in Durban. The tournament was later won by the Men in Blue under the captaincy of legendary cricketer MS Dhoni in South Africa.
Speaking of the game, the Mongolian skipper asked for the Nepal side to bat first after winning the toss. The Nepal team scored an unbelievable score of 314/3 in only 20 overs. Notably, they didn’t get off to a good start, as openers Kushal and Aasif fell for just 19 and 16 runs, respectively. Following their dismissal, top-order batter Kusal Malla then blasted an incredible 137 runs from just 50 balls with a decent strike rate of 274, including eight boundaries and 12 sixes which boosted their middle-order.

In addition, skipper Rohit Paudel scored 61 runs off just 27 balls and stitched the great stand with Kusal Malla. Later, in the end, Dipendra Singh’s record-breaking fifty guided them to post the huge total of 314 runs. However, Mongolia were all bundled out for just 41 runs, which guided Nepal to win the opening match by 273 runs.
