IPL 2023: Watch: Joe Root, Dhruv Jurel, and Devdutt Padikkal picks playing under MS Dhoni over Virat Kohli
On May 5, 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face off in the current IPL. The reigning champions are the Gujarat Titans. RR overcame GT in the rematch in Ahmedabad, and the game will be played in Jaipur. Therefore, Sanju Samson and his team will strive to defeat GT twice this year.
Before the game, RR posted a video of Joe Root, Dhruv Jurel, and Devdutt Padikkal playing the game “This or That” on their Twitter page. Each player has to choose one of the two options in the game. They were asked, among other things, if they would rather play for MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli as captain. Everyone chose Dhoni over Kohli in response, and following this, supporters wrote some humorous comments on social media.

Joe Root has not yet made his debut for Rajasthan Royals
When Devdutt Padikkal played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he was a teammate of MS Dhoni. Therefore, many fans were shocked that he selected Dhoni over Kohli. This season, Padikkal and Jurel have played in a lot of games together. Jurel has scored 132 runs at a strike rate of 191.30 in eight games. His few but impactful appearances have helped RR to score or chase key runs. Devdutt Padikkal has scored 194 runs at an average of 27.71 in eight games.
However, Joe Root has not yet played for RR. CSK has dropped both of their contests with RR this year. In the most recent game, in which RR won by 32 runs, Jurel scored 34 runs off 15 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Following the game, MS Dhoni praised him for his cameo, to which he replied in the post-game press conference with the following statement: “I’m fortunate enough to share the field with MS Dhoni. I have always dreamt of it. I don’t feel the pressure; I feel motivated. He’s behind me; he’s watching me; that’s enough for me.”
