IPL 2024: Top five uncapped Indian players who struck it big during IPL Auctions 2024
The IPL Auction 2024 ended with each of the ten teams going out of their way to secure their favourite players. With the squads filled for the next IPL 2024 season, each team now knows their likely best combination.
The day was filled with surprises and moments where history was created. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins traded the honour of being the costliest player in the league during the day. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders sent the auction room into a tizzy as they bid ferociously for the two players.
Uncapped Indian players too had their day in the sun as they earned their IPL contracts.
Here we take a closer look at the five Indian uncapped players who were brought during the IPL 2024 auctions:
5. Sameer Rizvi – Chennai Super Kings
The 20-year-old from Uttar Pradesh came out of the left field during IPL 2024 Auctions. Chennai Super Kings paid INR 8.4 Crores for Sameer Rizvi to be part of the team. Not many knew the youngster before his name came up for bidding. The big-hitting UP youngster will be playing next season alongside his role model MS Dhoni.
4. Shah Rukh Khan – Gujarat Titans
After being released by Punjab Kings, the big-hitting batter from Tamil Nadu was looking for a new team. Gujarat Titans did not take a step back as they were able to land the 28-year-old Chennai lad. With a massive talent pool at their disposal adding Shah Rukh Khan has made GT an even more stronger outfit.
3. Kumar Kushagra – Delhi Capitals
The youngster from Jharkhand is set to get his first taste of IPL 2024 with Delhi Capitals. Known to be a safe wicket-keeper and a terrific batter, Kumar Kushagra is a welcome addition. Rishabh Pant is set to be played as an impact player, this opens up the chance for the 19-year-old to make his name in the league.
2. Shubham Dubey – Rajasthan Royals
At 29 years old, Shubham Dubey from Vidarbha is not a spring chicken. With 221 runs from 7 games with a strike rate of 173, Dubey is a very dangerous middle-order batter. Many fans have compared him to his teammate Jitesh Sharma for his ability to hit big sixes. Rajasthan Royals paid INR 5.8 Crores to bring the talented batter to Jaipur.
1. Yash Dayal – Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore surprised their fans by not going for Mitchell Starc during the IPL Auction 2024. Instead, they focused on getting younger talents like Yash Dayal. The move didn’t sit down well with the fans because the pacer tends to leak runs. RCB though has taken a punt by buying Yash Dayal for INR 5 Crores to be part of the IPL 2024 campaign.
