‘IPL Ducks ka King kaun’ – Fans react as Dinesh Karthik registers his 15th IPL duck against Delhi Capitals

The action returned in the Indian Premier League 2023, with Royal Challengers Bangalore hosting Delhi Capitals in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Delhi Capitals are still winless in the IPL, and RCB are coming against the backdrop of a close defeat at the hands of the Lucknow Super Giants.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first, inviting the Royal Challengers to bat first on their own familiar surface. RCB took the most of their decision with a good start by openers Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis. The skipper was unlucky to get out to Mitchell Marsh’s short ball, which yielded a difficult catch for Aman Khan, who surprised everyone with his extraordinary effort on the field.

RCB closed out at 174/6 in their 20 overs

With 50 off 34, Virat Kohli remained the star for Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the centre of focus remained Dinesh Karthik, who got out for a golden duck. This is Karthik’s 15th career duck in the Indian Premier League, the joint-highest with Mandeep Singh in the list of IPL ducks. The wicketkeeper batter tried to go for a big shot against Kuldeep Yadav and mistimed it horribly to give away an easy catch to Lalit Yadav.

Earlier, Dinesh Karthik spoke at length about RCB’s improvements this season. “I think at this point of time, we’ve addressed a lot of issues we struggled with last year. That’s a major positive. A little bit of fine-tuning at certain points of the game, that’s what we are looking to do,” Karthik said in a YouTube video uploaded by the franchise.

The offensive leader for RCB, Mohammed Siraj, also shared his opinions on the current campaign, stating that he has focused on the mental part of the game this time. “The process is the same, but I’ve changed my mentality. I used to think too much about what other people thought of me, and I focused on that over my bowling. I’m enjoying my bowling this year and staying in the present, which is helping me take wickets,” the India pacer said.
