iQOO BGMI India League cancelled; organizers issue clarification

Published on

The long-awaited LAN event for iQOO India League for Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has officially been cancelled. After a postponement on the first day, the organizers cancelled the event after similar issues persisted on Day 2.

Matches on Day 2 also started late, despite the tournament planning to complete the event in the original time frame. Instead of 18 matches, the teams were set to play 7 matches each day for a total of 14 matches.

However, network and gameplay issues were being raised once again after the first match. This led to more delay, with the organizers eventually deciding to call off the tournament.

Update from iQOO esports

iQOO esports, in an official statement, made the clarification regarding the event. “We were facing persistent network and audio connectivity issues and despite our partner’s and our best efforts, we were unable to find a stable solution,” they said.

“After careful consideration and being respectful of everyone’s time, we had to take the hard decision of calling off the League with a heavy heart,” the statement further added.

This comes as a huge disappointment for fans who visited the LAN event on the second day hoping to see some action. iQOO Esports also apologized for the inconvenience to the fans of the game across the country.

Fans have mixed reaction

BGMI India League was set to be one of the largest LAN tournaments, featuring a prize pool of Rs 40 lakh. Many expressed their frustration, which was understandable considering how much people were excited.

A lot of top-tier teams and newcomers were facing each other on LAN for the first time. Many others supported the organizers for doing their best and advised them to learn from their mistakes.
