In the last few years, Mohammed Shami has emerged as one of the best bowlers for India across all formats. One of the reasons for Shami’s success has been his upright bowling action. His teammate Dinesh Kartik referred to him as a nasty bowler.

Shami’s career has been full of ups and downs among which most of them have come off the field. Back in 2018, his wife Hasin Jahan alleged him with various allegations like match-fixing which resulted in the involvement of the Indian Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).

While speaking to Cricbuzz on the ‘Rise of New India’ show, the Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma stated that Shami has gone through a very tough period but somehow has managed to come out of it. In 2018, Jahan lodged a police complaint against Shami where she alleged a series of allegations which included match-fixing, adultery, and domestic violence which led to upholding his Indian Cricket Board’s central contract.

His wife claimed that Shami had received money from Pakistani woman, and the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administration (CoA) had requested Indian cricket board to investigate into the matter. Later on, Shami was given a clean chit.

Ishant recalled the incident, where all the Indian cricketers were called during the investigation on the matter. He revealed that Neeraj Kumar-led unit was 200 percent sure that why he was not involved in such matters, although he did not comment on his personal life.

“I had a word with him and he did share of lot on the topic. Whatever had happened, the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) had approached us all, and they had asked us whether Shami could do a match-fixing or not. Just like policemen lodge a complaint…I was asked everything and all was written down. I had told them, ‘I don’t know his personal things but I’m 200 per cent sure he can’t do that because I know him that well.” When he heard I said those words, he realised that what I think of him and our bond became stronger,” said the 34-year-old seamer.
