Star India opener and Lucknow Super Giants skipper, KL Rahul is sidelined for the remainder of the league’s current season after suffering a major thigh injury during his team’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday (May 1).

The 31-year-old left the field in discomfort, but he then walked out to bat. He could run while batting. The squad’s next match against the Chennai Super Kings was missed by the right-handed batter, and Krunal Pandya led the team in his place.

After the LSG-CSK game, Rahul traveled to Mumbai for scans. It has since been discovered that the injury is quite serious, and he won’t be able to continue playing in the current ongoing tournament. Not only that, but he will probably miss the trip to the Global Test Championship final as well. India, who is ranked first in the Test rankings under Rohit Sharma, will play Australia in the final at the Oval from June 7 to June 11.

India to play WTC Finals in June

Rahul’s IPL 2023 is finished, as he has already departed the franchise camp, claims a Cricbuzz report. The Indian Cricket Board has taken over the star cricketer’s situation while he is in Mumbai for scans.

His participation in the Test Championship final will depend on the scan results. As of Thursday night, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) team, which oversees his care, had not notified anybody in charge, including the team administration, but those who are aware of the circumstances are not overly optimistic. Rahul is most likely going to miss the WTC final as well.

The right-hander’s exact injury problem is unclear because neither the LSG management nor the Indian Cricket Board has issued an official announcement. He may have a hip or hamstring injury, according to speculation. According to the source, Ishan Kishan would probably replace Rahul on the Indian team for the WTC Final.

After the league stage of the IPL concludes on May 21 – a day or two later – the Indian team is expected to leave for London for the WTC final. At a later time, the players that participated in the IPL playoffs will go for the UK.
