‘Iske sabhi idol hai kya’ – Fans react as Jitesh Sharma wishes to meet his idol during Asian Games 2023

Jitesh Sharma has been one of the most exciting players to watch in the last 16 months. The batter from Amrawati, who can also keep wickets, is one of the rare entities in Indian cricket, who can bat aggressively lower down the order. The 29-year-old was selected in the Indian squad for Asian Games 2023 to be held in Hangzhou of China.

The batter has played IPL since 2022 for Punjab Kings and has been highly impressive. In 24 innings, Jitesh has scored 543 at an average of 25.86, at an incredible strike rate of 159.24. The lower middle order batter has hit 33 sixes in IPL and has often saved Punjab from collapses and finished the games with the bat.

The batter from Maharashtra has a good record in domestic cricket. In all T20 cricket, Jitesh averages 29.1 with the bat and has a strike rate of 149.1 after playing 90 matches, which is very impressive. Despite being a late bloomer, it is good that Jitesh has got a call-up for the Indian team, much similar to that of Suryakumar Yadav and Rahul Tripathi.

‘I want to meet Neeraj Chopra’ – Jitesh Sharma

As the Indian team will be playing Asian Games, they will be the team to watch out for and the team to beat. The players will represent the Indian contingent which will feature some great athletes like Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Mirabai Chanu, Nikat Zareen, and many others. Speaking about the experience of playing alongside these athletes, Jitesh expressed his satisfaction.

The wicketkeeper batter particularly envied Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal in the men’s Javelin throw in Tokyo Olympics. “I want to meet Neeraj Chopra. He is an idol. He has won an Olympic gold. I want to meet him and try to talk about his mentality” said the batter from Punjab Kings. Despite sustaining many injuries, Neeraj Chopra has had a stellar career as a Javelin thrower. The young thrower from Haryana has already been an inspiration to many young athletes to take up any sport of their choice.
