‘Isme bhi India ki Sajish hai koi’ – Fans react as Afghanistan register first international victory against Pakistan in 1st T20I
In a historic game, Afghanistan Men’s cricket team beat Pakistan by six wickets in the first T20I of the series at Sharjah Cricket ground in UAE. This is Afghanistan’s first victory in an international match against Pakistan. Former skipper Mohammed Nabi shined with both bat and ball for Afghanistan as they registered a historic victory. Nabi in his innings scored 38 runs off 38 balls while clinching two wickets to lead his team to the winning side.
Earlier after winning the toss Pakistan captain Shadab Khan opted to bat first on a slow track. This decision didn’t go well with the team as Afghani bowlers didn’t let them set on the field. Pakistan lost their nine wickets for just 80 runs and eventually finished for 92 runs in 20 overs. Allrounder Imad Wasim scored the most runs for Pakistan as he scored just 18 runs off 32 balls.
All Afghanistan bowlers were successful as they shared all wickets. Fazal Farooqi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Nabi clinched two wickets each while Skipper Rashid Khan, Naveen-Ul-Haq, and Azmatullah took a wicket each. Mujeeb was the most efficient bowler as he gave just nine runs in four overs and took two wickets.
Afghanistan struggled to chase a small total
Chasing 93 runs never seemed an easy task for Afghanistan as they took almost 18 overs to win the game. They made a steady start as the opening pair added 23 runs in the first four overs. Although PSL superstar Ishan Ullah Shook their run chase as he clinched two wickets in his first international over pushing Afghanistan to 27/3.
This led the Afghans to slow the run chase and they played to run a ball. Former skipper Mohammed Nabi held an end to and helped Afghanistan to register a remarkable victory. He along with Najibullah Zadran added 53 runs for the fifth wicket. Najibullah scored 17 runs off 23 balls. Ishan Ullah shined for Pakistan as he took two wickets by giving 17 runs.
Meanwhile, fans react to Afghanistan’s historic victory and congratulated the team. A Twitter user said, “A good start many more to come.”
