Star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s back injury is nothing short of a mystery for Indian cricket fans. Bumrah, who is running out of cricket due to recurring injuries, is currently rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Fans and the Indian Cricket Board are hoping for his quick recovery before the ODI World Cup this year.

However, team management is not looking to rush him and is giving him enough time to complete rehab. Meanwhile, a recent news report suggests that Bumrah has started bowling in nets in the NCA under the scrutiny of experts. He is bowling seven overs a day and looking forward to making a comeback. Though he has started bowling, the timeline for his comeback is still under wraps.

“For an injury of this nature, it is not wise to set any timeline as constant monitoring is necessary. But it can be said that Bumrah is recovering well, and he has bowled seven overs at the NCA nets. It is a steady increase in his workload from the light workouts and bowling sessions of the initial period. He will play a few practise matches (at NCA) next month, and there will be a close assessment of his fitness then,” PTI quoted a source as saying.

India is set to participate in two multination tournaments this year.

After facing a humiliating defeat in the finals of the World Test Championship 2023 against Australia, India is set to participate in two multination tournaments this year. Starting with the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka, India will participate in the CWC 2023 in India itself. Team management will be keen to get Bumrah back in the team, as he will enhance the quality of the Indian bowling line-up.

It’s worth noting that Bumrah last played against Australia in a home T20I series in September 2022. Since then, he is running out of games due to injury. In March 2023, Jasprit Bumrah underwent back surgery in New Zealand to treat a back niggle. Since then, he has started his road to recovery in the NCA under the supervision of NCA chief VVS Laxman and other members.
