‘It is my personal life’ – Umar Akmal loses his cool at reporter over questions on fitness and TikTok videos

Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal lost his cool when he was asked about his fitness and Tik Tok videos during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) press conference. The Quetta Gladiators batter wasn’t amused by the reporter questioning him about his personal life.

Speaking to the media in Karachi on Sunday, Akmal snapped at a reporter and asked,

“Who has told you that I frequently upload videos on TikTok?” The batter also urged the media to refrain from asking questions about his personal life.

“It is my personal life and it is in front of everyone. It would be better if you refrain from asking such questions.

“Fitness is in front of you. I am not the only one. If you ask other players about it, they will also answer it in the same way. I have worked very hard on my fitness and I am feeling super fit,” he added.

“Akmal should thank Quetta Gladiators”: Shahid Afridi

However, this is not the first time questions have been raised about Akmal’s fitness. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi also recently highlighted that the batter needs to focus more on his fitness. Afridi also opined that Akmal is lucky to have been picked by Gladiators despite his poor performance.

“Umar Akmal should thank Quetta Gladiators because other franchises were not interested in picking him in PSL. Umar Akmal has problem of fitness since quite a long. I like him as a batter, but Umar Akmal still has to work upon his fitness a lot,” the ex-cricketer was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk.

Meanwhile, the latest edition of the PSL is underway, with Lahore Qalandars winning by 1 run against Multan Sultans in the opening match on Monday. Akmal and Co will take on Multan on Wednesday to begin their 2023 campaign.
