With that, Djokovic’s 25th grand slam win remained a dream in this season.

Novak Djokovic’s first Australian Open defeat since 2018

Surprisingly, Novak Djokovic was undefeated in the Australian Open since 2018. After six long years, Jannik Sinner defeated Djokovic to enter the Australian Open 2024 finals. Djokovic is currently the No.1 ranked player and one of the best tennis players of all time. He has worked hard to reach wherever he is today. However, seeing him hit 29 unforced errors felt more like he lost the game in the first half.

Even though he tried to give a tough fight, Sinner did extremely well to not let his momentum down and consistently tried to frustrate Djokovic. Sinner’s approach from the first set was clear that he wasn’t afraid of facing the best man. He is in general a good player, however, when he plays against Djokovic, he plays with a lot of extra confidence. Two out of three times, Sinner has defeated Djokovic in their previous encounters. The crowd was thrilled to watch them play and will be hoping for more such fantastic encounters.
