‘Itna bhi chase nahi hota kya’ – Fans react as B-Love Kandy knock out Jaffna Kings from LPL 2023
Galle Titans and B-Love Kandy are all set to lock horns for LPL 2023 Qualifier 2, which is slated to take place on August 19 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Earlier, Dambulla Aura won by six wickets against Galle Titans in Qualifier 1 and booked their place in the final. In addition, B-Love Kandy defeated the Jaffna Kings by 61 runs in the Eliminator clash.
Notably, during the first match of the play-offs, the Galle Titans posted 146 runs in the given 20 overs after being put to bat first. Later, while chasing, Dambulla Aura achieved the target with two balls to spare and placed themselves in the final match after winning Qualifier 1. Notably, Kusal Perera was the highest run scorer for the team, as the star batter hammered 53 runs from just 39 balls to reach the target in 19.4 overs.
Meanwhile, Galle Titans skipper Dasun Shanaka expressed his disappointment after losing the match. In addition, the great all-rounder affirms that they fell short by 20–25 runs and lost their wickets at crucial times.
“We had our chances to score 160-170 but we gave our wickets at crucial times. Croospulle was going from one end but myself, Shakib and Najib are guys that have to click on this wicket but we didn’t,” Dasun Shanaka said after losing the match.
Jaffna Kings are out from LPL 2023
Later, during the Eliminator matchup, B-Love Kandy posted 188 runs in the given 20 overs. Later, while chasing, the Jaffna Kings could only manage to rack up 127 runs before getting all out. Notably, this loss knocks them out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, after getting out of the tournament, Jaffna Kings skipper Thisara Perera hopes to get stronger in the next edition. In addition, the great batter called it a bad day for the team.
“It was a bad day. We thought we can chase 180 with our batting line-up. But we won’t worry about that. Still proud of my team as we won three in a row, I don’t think anyone would’ve been able to achieve that. Hopefully, we can bounce back strong next year,” Thisara Perera said.
