Indian star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal’s outstanding showing during the IPL 2023 campaign created new records. Notably, the left-handed batter had amassed a remarkable 625 runs in 14 games for the Rajasthan Royals. In addition, as an outcome, the star batter was picked for the Indian team for the two-match Test series against the West Indies. Notably,  the 21-year-old batter made his debut on July 20, 2023, against the West Indies. The Uttar Pradesh-born batter had an excellent beginning to his Test career, scoring a terrific 171 runs in his debut match, which placed him third among Indians for the greatest Test debut score.

Moreover, after his Test debut, fans and former cricketers are eager to see him in the shortest format of the game. Speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Wasim Jaffer revealed that he wanted to see Jaiswal during the second T20I as an opener over Ishan Kishan. Furthermore, the right-handed batter pointed out that Kishan is not looking in solid form as he has had poor performances and strike rates in the past 15 games, which is a big concern.

Why not give an opportunity to the boy who played very well in the IPL?: Wasim Jaffer

“I want to see Yashasvi Jaiswal. He should play as an opening batter. I want to see Jaiswal in place of Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan’s T20I form worries me. In the last 15 innings, he hasn’t even scored a 40, the strike rate is also too low. So, that’s a cause of concern, but he was in good form in ODIs. It’s a different format (T20I). He also had an ordinary IPL season,” Jaffer said on ESPNCricinfo.

The 45-year-old legendary cricketer further stated that Jaiswal won the emerging player award and looks confident. Meanwhile, the former batter is looking for a change in the second T20I against the West Indies.

“Why not give an opportunity to the boy who played very well in the IPL? He won the emerging player award and is confident. I’ll definitely look towards that change,” he added further.
