‘Jalwa hai hamara yahaan’ – Ravindra Jadeja demolishes Australian batters with 7-wicket haul in 2nd Test

The second game of the four-game Test series between India and Australia is taking place at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The match between the two teams is shaping up to be fantastic as both sides square off. For both sides, a victory is vital in the context of the Test Championship.

Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder for India, notched up consecutive five-wicket hauls against Australia. On February 19th, Jadeja, who had a great performance in the first Test match in Nagpur, again destroyed the Australian batting order. Jadeja’s 12th career 5-wicket haul on Day 3 of the Test match left Australia reeling in the morning session.

Australia held all the cards as Day 3 of the second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, with Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne serving as the visitors’ middlemen. Travis Head and Steve Smith were abruptly dismissed by R Ashwin during the morning session. Smith only managed 9, losing his wicket twice to Ashwin, while Head got a decent score of 43 runs. Usman Khawaja lost against Ravindra Jadeja with a score of only 6 runs, due to a brilliant catch by Shreyas Iyer at leg slip.

Australia set a target of 115

The Australians who were sweeping the ball regularly were quickly destroyed by Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. As Ashwin concluded with three wickets, Jadeja finished with his best figures of 7/42. During a hectic day three morning, nine wickets went for 53 runs, and the ex-players questioned the sweep stroke on a pitch where the ball kept low.

After three days, nobody thought that Australia would crumble this badly. With a lead of 114 runs, they were dismissed for just 113 runs in the second innings, giving India 115 to win this Test and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. It would be interesting to see how the game turns with three great spinners in the Australian line-up who would be giving it their all to turn the tide of the match in the favour of the Australians.
