Pakistan did not have a good Asia Cup tournament in 2023. The players suffered injuries in the middle of the tournament. The likes of Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Agha Salman, and Imam-Ul-Haq faced injuries and were ruled out of the remainder of the series. Later, Naseem was reported to have ruled out of the 2023 ODI World Cup. These players were unavailable for the must-win game against Sri Lanka, which Pakistan lost by 2 wickets.  

In a thrilling match in R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka knocked Pakistan out of the tournament. After the match, there were rumors of an alleged rift between Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. The reports suggested that the two star cricketers from Pakistan had an exchange of words during the dressing room conversation after the loss against Sri Lanka. 

Reports claimed that Babar was not happy with the performances of the players. The reports suggested that the Pakistani captain blamed the players for their lack of effort in the match and the tournament. According to the reports, the allegation of Babar did not go well with the players, particularly with Shaheen, who asked Babar not to blame the players. 

Shaheen Afridi puts an end to rumors of rift between him and Babar Azam

According to the reports, Afridi asked Babar to appreciate the players who performed well, instead of criticizing those who did not perform well. The reports suggested that Mohammad Rizwan had to intervene to stop the exchange of words between the two cricketers. While it is unsure if the reports were true or not, the Pakistani pacer has decided to put an end to all the rumors. 

Replying to the rumors, Afridi posted a tweet, which put an end to all the reports claiming rift between him and Babar Azam. In the tweet, Shaheen posted a representational image of him and Babar playing chess with each other. Along with the image, Afridi wrote “Family” which meant that everything was fine with the two cricketers. The fans appreciated the move of Afridi and praised him for ending the rumors of rift between him and Azam.
