The Men in Blue are all set to lock horns against Australia for the three-match ODI series commencing on September 22, which marks an important series ahead of the ODI World Cup. Intriguingly, Team India will face Australia on October 8 in Chennai to commence their journey in the marquee event. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. have lifted the Asia Cup 2023 title after defeating Sri Lanka on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

According to reports, newly appointed chief selector Ajit Agarkar is all set to announce India’s squad for the upcoming bilateral series against the five-time World Champions at 8:30 PM (IST). Notably, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar will address the press conference. Meanwhile, Team India has already announced the ODI World Cup squad, which will be almost identical to the squad for the upcoming bilateral series.

There might be no place for Sanju Samson, Prasidh Krishna, or Tilak Varma in the squad, whereas Axar Patel could also miss out on the squad, owing to the injuries he sustained during the Asia Cup 2023. However, one may witness star batter Shreyas Iyer in action in the upcoming series. It will be interesting to note whether some players get rest in the series or not.

Meanwhile, Australia has already announced the squad for the bilateral series against India. Notably, the squad marks the comeback of Pat Cummins and Steve Smith, who earlier suffered injuries during the Ashes 2023.
