‘It would be nice to keep them as quiet throughout series…’ – English star makes audacious claim on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of 3rd Test

English star cricketer Joe Root has heaped praise on India’s batting masters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and said that the Three Lions will be looking to keep them quiet in the rest of the three Test matches. Notably, England won the first Test match by a narrow margin; however, the hosts bounced back magnificently in the second Test match and levelled up the series by 1-1.

However, English great batter Joe Root called India’s great batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli the modern greats of the era. The right-handed batter admitted that both batters are quite good and experienced players for Team India. In addition, the opening batter feels one should aim to get them out early in the game as both can go gung ho in the red-ball game.

“You mentioned two of the greats of the modern era. Of course, there’s going to be focus. We know how good they are and they are also very senior within this current Indian batting lineup. So clearly they’ve got a big role to play within this Test team. You want to make sure that you try and get on top of them early. They can get big scores and we’ve been on the wrong end of that a few times, so it would be nice to try and keep them as quiet as we can throughout the series,” Joe Root said while speaking to JioCinema.

We don’t really do team meetings anymore: Joe Root

Meanwhile, Joe Root also talks about team culture in the dressing room, where they do not believe in holding meetings and other stuff. The Yorkshire-born cricketer also talks about how Ben Stokes led the England side to spend time together and enjoy each other’s company.

“We don’t really do team meetings anymore. That’s one of the great things about how we do all of our conversations away from the game and just that enjoyment and buzz about spending time with each other,” he added further.
