‘Kal bhi ye hi bol rhe the’ – Fans react as India vs Pakistan match is expected to resume on reserve day as rain stops in Colombo

Team India faced Pakistan on September 10 in their opening match of the Super Four at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in the Asia Cup 2023. Notably, a spell of heavy rain once again halted the play during India’s innings. Meanwhile, Team India’s group stage match against Pakistan was also washed out after rain played spoilsport on September 2 at Pallekele Cricket Stadium, which forced each team to share one point.

According to reports, the rain has stopped in Colombo, and things are getting better to resume the play between India and Pakistan on reserve day. Notably, the conditions were even brighter on September 10, but rain once again halted the play, which destroyed the momentum of the game during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

Rain may interrupt the Asia Cup clash of India vs. Pakistan on Reserve Day

Speaking about the match here, it was Pakistan skipper Babar Azam who won the toss and sent the Men in Blue to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, India were 147/2 in 24.1 overs. India’s star openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a stellar start to the team and overshot hundreds of runs in partnership after scoring 56 and 58 runs, respectively. Following them, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were in the crease with scores of 8 and 17 before rain played spoilsport in the match. In addition, after several inspections, the match was called off at 8:45 p.m. (IST).

Meanwhile, the match is set to resume on September 11. The current weather says that the rain has finally stopped in Colombo and the sun has come out. Notably, the MET department predicted that the rain may interfere on the reserve day as well, and if such a situation happens, both teams have to share one point yet again, which can trouble Rohit Sharma’s side to reach the finals as Pakistan and Sri Lanka are much ahead of India.
