‘Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar ko bhaw mat do’ – Fans react as Ravindra Jadeja gives scathing response to Kapil Dev’s criticism of India players

Indian star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Kapil Dev’s allegation that the “power of money” and the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) have resulted in current Indian players becoming “arrogant”. The 34-year-old cricketer said that such remarks come when Team India loses the match. The left-handed batter also went on to say that playing for the nation is their main aim and that they have no personal agenda.

“Everyone is enjoying their cricket and everyone are hardworking. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 per cent. Such comments generally come when Indian team lost a match. We are representing India and that is our main aim, there is no personal agenda,” Jadeja said ahead of third ODI against West Indies.

Why should there be ego?: Kapil Dev

Notably, a few days ago, 1983 World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev said in an interview that the current players have too much ego due to their match fees. The legendary cricketer said there are a multitude of players who seek guidance, but they don’t ask due to overconfidence, and the players think they know everything. The former all-rounder suggests that the current players should take guidance from legendary players like Sunil Gavaskar, who has seen 50 seasons of cricket.

“Sometimes, when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything. I would say there are so many cricketers who need help. When Sunil Gavaskar is there, why can’t you talk? Why should there be ego?. Maybe they are good enough, but extra help from somebody, who has seen 50 seasons of cricket, won’t hurt,” Kapil Dev said on The Week.

Meanwhile, Team India is all set to lock horns against West Indies for the series decider match that will be played on Aug 1. According to the reports, India’s star batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be in action for the third and final match that will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
