The second Test between India and the West Indies has been one of the main subjects of discussion for a lot of things. Virat Kohli is playing his 500th international match and created the record for most international hundred after 500 matches. Kohli scored his 29th Test hundred in the first innings of the Test. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored fifty at the top. The spin-bowling All-rounder duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin also registered fifty.

India scored 438 in their first innings. Replying to India, the home side has scored 229/5 after 108 overs. West Indies has not scored at a good rate. While India bowled well, West Indies was happy to defend and did not concentrate much on scoring runs. As a result, the viewers complained about boredom in the Test match.

To avoid a one-dimensional narrative, pitches with help for bowlers would have helped. Unfortunately, a flat deck is provided for the match, which has near to no help for the bowlers. The West Indian batters batted slowly and showed no attitude of playing for a win. Despite bowling so well, the Indian bowlers could not get many wickets. When Test matches are played on such flat pitches, it would not fascinate the viewers.

Speaking about the same, the former Indian cricketer and analyst, Akash Chopra, gave his opinions. The former Indian opener took to his Twitter account and tweeted “Flat-dead pitches are the biggest enemy of Test cricket. #WIvInd”. Chopra was not happy with the kind of pitch prepared for the Test match between India and West Indies in Port of Spain.

Without any spice in a pitch, the bowlers will not be in the game. Without any support for the bowlers, there is hardly any scope for the match to have anything except batters scoring runs. With such a play, the viewers would surely be demotivated. The pitches with no help surely destroy the viewing experience, as there would not be anything to expect from the match.
