‘Khaali 2 spinners waah?’ – Fans react as Australia announce 15-man squad for ODI World Cup 2023

The 15-person Australian team for the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November, has been revealed. It should be noted that Australia had originally proposed an 18-person provisional team, but has now reduced it to 15 when Aaron Hardie, Nathan Ellis, as well as Tanveer Sangha failed to get onto the bus. Marnus Labuschagne, a Test specialist, was also passed over for the major world competition.

Australia would enter the World Cup 2023 with a lot of confidence as they had previously won the World Test championship this year. In the 2021–2023 World Test Championship Final, Australia met India, and they were utterly clinical to win the Test match with ease. Then they faced the mighty England team in the UK for the five match Ashes series. They did exceedingly well and came close to winning the series for the first time on away soil since 2001.

On October 8, at MA Chidambaram in Chennai, the numerous World Cup champions will begin their trip with a pivotal match against India. Additionally, this would be India’s first game of the tournament as well. Both the teams would be looking to start their campaign on a winning note ahead of a busy schedule.

On October 12, Australia is scheduled to play its next World Cup encounter against South Africa in Lucknow’s Ekana International Stadium. Australia will go to India to play a three-match One-Day International series before the World Cup, which can act as the ideal warm-up for the major tournament. Beginning on September 22, the two heavies will play five Twenty20 Internationals in addition to the ODI series.
