‘KL Rahul gonna rock’ – Fans excited as KL Rahul eyes to comeback in Asia Cup 2023

KL Rahul has returned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. The right-handed opener shared four photographs with the caption “Home.” However, he is still doubtful for the upcoming West Indies series, but he is eyeing a return for the Asia Cup which is due to be held in September.

Rahul sustained a thigh injury during LSG’s game against RCB on May 1 and was ruled out of the IPL 2023 season, as well as the WTC Final against Australia. Later, the Indian Cricket Board revealed that the 31-year-old needed thigh surgery in London. Now Rahul has returned to NCA following surgery and will resume rehabilitation.

KL Rahul to make a comeback in the Asia Cup

It will be a massive gain for the Indian team, despite the fact that the opener’s performance has dropped off in T20Is and Tests. Rahul bats in the middle order, for India in the ODIs, and has averaged almost 45 in ODIs. He is also the ODI team’s designated wicketkeeper. His dual role allows India to play either an additional batter or a bowler in the team.

Rahul appeared in ten games for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) before departing when the squad was second in the table with five wins. In nine matches, the skilled batter scored 274 runs, including two half-centuries.

The Indian opener has scored 2,642 runs in 47 Test matches, 1,986 runs in 54 ODIs, and 2,265 runs in 72 T20Is. He has scored 14 hundred in various formats of the game, defining his brilliant batting skills.

India will next face the West Indies in three one-day internationals (ODIs), two Test matches, and five Twenty20 Internationals. Following that series, India will play three Twenty20 Internationals against Ireland, followed by the Asia Cup.

Before the World Cup, India will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against Australia. If Rahul’s recovery goes well, he will most likely play in the Asia Cup and three One-Day Internationals against Australia. Rahul will definitely eye the Asia Cup for preparing before the ODI World Cup, which is expected to start on the 5th of October.
