WATCH: KL Rahul-Keshav Maharaj’s stump-mic chat over ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song during 3rd ODI in Paarl stadium

India’s stand-in skipper KL Rahul’s chat with South Africa’s star bowler Keshav Maharaj went viral during the third ODI on December 21 at Boland Park in Paarl. The incident took place during the second inning when Keshav Maharaj was on the crease at 33.2 overs when their score read 177/6.

However, India’s wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul asked Keshav Maharaj that whenever he comes to the crease, South Africa always plays the Ram Siyaram song, to which he laughed and replied yes to his question. Notably, this incident stole the show, and the video of this act has been widely shared on social media, with great reactions from the fans.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul has expressed his happiness after India won the series against a strong home side. The star cricketer was happy to win the series after the ODI World Cup 2023 final setback on November 19. The middle-order batter reveals his messages to the boys ahead of the game.

“Always love being around the boys. Nice to get back on the cricket field after a disappointing World Cup. Have played with a lot of them in the IPL, nice to get out here and play with them. Usually, my message is to always enjoy the game, to give your best and not worry about the rest,” KL Rahul said at the post-match presentation.

They’re great cricketers but few of them haven’t played internationally: KL Rahul

KL Rahul also talks about giving chances to newcomers who haven’t played much international cricket in their careers. Moreover, the stylish right-handed batter heaps praise on Sanju Samson for his match-winning knock.

“They’re great cricketers but few of them haven’t played internationally so it’s about giving them some time to adjust. It’s about making their roles clear and they all gave their 100% so nothing more I can ask. Sanju has been a phenomenal performer in the IPL, unfortunately hasn’t got a lot of chances at the top of the order for various reasons but nice to see him do well today,” he added further.
