‘Kohli ka khauf’ – Chris Jordan joins MI squad as Jofra Archer ruled out of IPL 2023

Mumbai Indians star pacer Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the remaining IPL season due to an injury. The Franchise has named another England pacer, Chris Jordan as a replacement for Archer for the remaining matches. Jordan joined the MI’s camp last week and is likely to play in the upcoming game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

MI have confirmed Archer’s departure and stated that his recovery will be monitored by the England Cricket Board. The 28-year-old has appeared in five matches in the ongoing season and was struggling throughout the tournament with fitness issues. He is expected to return to cricketing action in the upcoming Ashes starting next month.

“Chris Jordan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season. Chris replaces Jofra Archer, whose recovery and fitness continue to be monitored by ECB. Jofra will return home to focus on his rehabilitation,” MI wrote on Twitter.

MI already started their 2023 campaign without their ace pacer Jaspirt Bumrah and Jhye Richardson as they both went on to miss the entire season due to injuries. Meanwhile, MI bowlers have been conceding so many runs in the last few matches. They went on to concede 200+ runs consecutively against Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings. However, the brilliant performances of the batters helped MI to win both matches.

The five-time champions have won five out of the 10 matches played so far in IPL 2023, and currently stand in the eighth position in the points table. They still are in the race for qualifying for the playoffs if they win the rest of the matches. They will now take on RCB for match number 54 of the season at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where they will be looking to settle scores with them after losing their previous encounter in the season by 8 wickets.
