‘Konsa run bana hi deta’ – Fans react as Rahul Dravid confirms KL Rahul will be unavailable for first two matches of Asia Cup

Rohit Sharma and Co. are all set to lock horns against Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka, to commence their Asia Cup journey. Notably, the Asia Cup squad was announced on August 21, which highlighted the comeback of India’s stalwart KL Rahul. In addition, the chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, has stated that the 31-year-old cricketer still has a slight niggle. Moreover, India head coach Rahul Dravid has provided fresh updates on his injury.

Notably, the former India skipper reveals that the ex-India vice-captain has had a good week and is progressing well, but he will be unavailable during the first two matches in the Asia Cup. In addition, the former batter says that NCA will be taking care of the LSG skipper so he can recover soon. Moreover, the 50-year-old coach also added that they will be making their final decision on his inclusion after September 4.

“KL has had a good week with us, playing well, progressing really well but he will be unavailable for the first part for the Kandy leg of the trip. The NCA will be looking after him for the next few days while we are travelling. We will reassess on the 4th (September) and take it from there. But signs are looking good. He will be unavailable for the first two games,” Rahul Dravid said during the press conference.

Meanwhile, the head coach also gave an update on India’s star batter, Shreyas Iyer. “Shreyas Iyer has ticked all the boxes in the practice session. We’ll give him game time in the Asia Cup,” he added further.
