Team India are all set to face Australia in the Test Championship finals at the Oval Cricket Ground in London. It will start on June 7, just a week after the finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The gap between the finals of two important tournaments is concerning as Indian players will have to manage their workload. Meanwhile, a recent report suggests that Indian Team is considering playing a multi-day warm-up match ahead of the finals. 

According to news reports, team management is looking to play a multi-day warm game starting on May 23. Those players who are part of the 15-member squad and whose team failed to qualify for the IPL Playoffs will be sent to England to participate in the Warm-up game. Notably, India announced a 15-member squad two days ago. In a surprising move team recalled veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane for the prestigious game. 

A report in the Times of India also suggests that team management has named five backup players who will travel to England along with the main squad. These players include Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Sarfaraz Khan, Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar. Notably, Saini and Kumar are medium pacers, while Khan and Gaikwad have been picked as specialist batters. Meanwhile, Kishan will be the backup wicketkeeper-batter.
