‘Le Dooba Ishan ‘ – Fans react after Australia beat India by five wickets to win 3rd T20I in Guwahati
Ruturaj Gaikwad stole all the headlines as he became the first Indian batter to score T20I century versus Australia. The Indian opener was not out on 123 runs as he helped the Indian team score 222 runs on the board.
Glenn Maxwell fresh off his heroics with the bat during the ODI World Cup 2023, broke Indian hearts once again. The 35-year-old scored yet another memorable T20 century to help his team win the game by 5 wickets in the final ball of the game.
India made one change as Mukesh Kumar was replaced by Avesh Khan , while Australia made four changes. Team India were asked to bat first after Matthew Wade won the toss for the second game in a row.
Australia prevails in high scoring contest –
Team India batted first and scored 222/3 after Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 123 runs. The knock came off 57 balls with the help of 13 fours and 7 massive sixes as the 26-year-old scored his 1st century in this format of the game.
Suryakumar Yadav scored 39 runs from 28 balls before he was dismissed by Aaron Hardie. Tilak Varma then took over the mantle of supporting Gaikwad as the pair added 131 unbroken runs for the 4th wicket.
Jason Behrendorff gave away just 12 runs from his four overs and picked up the big wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal. None of the other Australian bowlers could stop the rampaging Indian batters from posting the massive score.
Chasing 223 to win, Australia lost Aaron Hardie for 18 while Travis Head continued to blaze the Indian bowlers. Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan though bought the Indian team back into the contest with timely wickets.
The day belonged to Glenn Maxwell as the Australian batter equaled the record for the fastest T20 century for his country. Matthew Wade and Glenn Maxwell added 91 runs from just 39 balls to win the game for their side to make it 2-1 in the series. Maxwell was not out on 104 runs from 48 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes.
