In the 37th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced Rajasthan Royals (RR). At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur RR beat CSK by 32 runs to clinch first position in the points table. Spinner Adam Zampa and Ravichandran Ashwin led RR with the ball to clinch the amazing victory.

Earlier after winning the Toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson opted to bat first. His decision went well with the team as opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler added 86 runs in 8.2 overs. Buttler in his innings scored 27 runs off 21 balls with the help of four boundaries. He was dismissed by star allrounder Ravindra Jadeja.

After his departure, Jaiswal along with Sanju Samson added 39 runs in 29 balls and completed his third half-century of the season. Jaiswal in his innings scored 77 runs off 43 balls with the help of four sixes and eight boundaries. Meanwhile, Samson had an off day as he scored just 17 runs in 17 balls. Both of the batters were dismissed by Tushar Deshpande in the same over.

In the end, Young batter Dhruv Jurel along with Devdutt Padikkal added 48 runs in 20 balls. Jurel in his amazing innings scored 34 runs off 15 balls with the help of two sixes and three boundaries. He was dismissed by an amazing throw from CSK skipper MS Dhoni. Rajasthan Royals ended up with 202-5 in 20 overs. Tushar Deshpande clinched two wickets while Ravindra Jadeja and Maheesh Teekshna clinched a wicket each.

CSK crumbled against Rajasthan’s spin bowlers

Chasing 203 CSK got a good start as both openers added 42 runs in the power play. Rituraj Gaikwad scored 47 runs off 29 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six. Meanwhile, Devon Conway scored just 8 runs off 16 balls. They were dismissed by star Australia spinner Adam Zampa. After their departure, CSK never looked in the game and soon were four down for 74 runs in 10.4 overs.

After that Moeen Ali along with Shivam Dube tried to rescue CSK as they added 51 runs for the fifth wicket. Dube hammered yet another half-century as he scored 52 runs off 33 balls with the help of four sixes and two boundaries. Meanwhile, Ali scored 23 runs off 12 balls with the help of two boundaries and as many sixes. CSK failed to chase down 202 and were restricted to 170-6 in 20 overs.

RR Spinners Adam Zampa and Ravichandran Ashwin shined with the bowl as they clinched five wickets together. Pacer Kuldip Yadav clinched a wicket too. This is RR’s fifth victory in eight games and they are now table toppers. Meanwhile, CSK dropped to the second position after facing the third defeat of the season.
