‘Liam livingstone ki aatma aagyi Shivam Dube me’- Fans go crazy as Shivam Dube hits three sixes of over 100 metres

Chennai Super Kings reached a mammoth total of 226 runs in the first innings of their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday evening, with starting roles played by Devon Conway and Shivam Dube. After Chennai got off to a rapid start, Dube walked in at number four with the freedom to start striking freely from ball one. The powerful left-hander duly obliged, combining with fellow southpaw Conway in a real six-fest.

However, it was Dube’s big hitting that stole the show as he took full advantage of the pitch, which was friendly to batters, and the relatively short boundaries, as he scored 52 off 27 balls. En route to his blistering half-century, Dube hit Maxwell to a 101-metre six in the 11th over, a monster hit that hit the roof of the stadium. A couple of overs later, he followed that up with an even bigger hit – Harshal Patel was on the receiving end of a massive 111m six.

Dube, who had broken into the Indian national team for a spell before dropping out shortly after, will be looking to use his bright start to the 2023 edition of the IPL as a platform to catch the eye of the national selectors once again. All in all, Dube hit five huge sixes, along with two fours in his half-century, which he brought up in 25 balls. Despite losing his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad cheaply, Conway contributed 83 off 45 balls.

Ajinkya Rahane, who has also looked in excellent touch in this edition of the tournament, came in at one down and scored a quick-fire 37 while Ambati Rayudu and Moeen Ali chipped in with handy scores as Chennai scored 226/6 in their 20 overs. For Bangalore, Mohammad Siraj was the pick of the bunch, taking 1/30 in his four overs. He was the only bowler to maintain an economy rate under 10 as the rest of the Bangalore bowling attack struggled to keep the Chennai batters under control.

All eyes will now be on the Bangalore run-chase. With both these sides maintaining identical records in the tournament thus far, a win would help create a small but significant gap in the IPL table for the victor.

Here’s a look at how fans reacted to Dube’s hitting sixes of over 100 metres:
