India has a very busy schedule planned for later this year as they are set to play the Test Championship final taking place just after the completion of the Indian T20 League, which is set to take place between June 7 to June 11 at The Oval. After that, they will be locking horns against different countries in the bilateral series before finally playing the much-awaited 50-over World Cup in October-November in India.

After the completion of the ODI series against Australia which India lost 2-1, Men in Blue skipper Rohit emphasized that it is up to the players to maintain themselves fit for national duty while competing for their teams in the Indian T20 League. According to the reports from Indian Express, Rohit is set to miss a few Indian T20 League games in order to keep himself fit for the above-mentioned events. In his absence, world number 1 T20I batter, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to captain the Mumbai franchise.

They can talk about it and take a break in one or two games: Rohit Sharma

“It’s all up to the franchises now. They own them now. We have given some indications to the teams, but at the end of the day, it’s up to the franchises. And more importantly, it’s up to the players. They are all adults; they have to look after their bodies. If they feel it’s getting a bit too much, they can talk about it and take a break in one or two games. I doubt if that will happen, but,” Rohit Sharma was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation of the third ODI against Australia.

The Mumbai franchise is the most successful franchise in the Indian T20 League winning the title on five occasions, which is the most by any team. However, Mumbai’s performance in the last season was terrible as they stood last in the points table with just four victories out of 14 matches they played.

The Mumbai side will look to make a strong comeback in the upcoming season, which is scheduled to kick off on Friday, March 31 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. The Mumbai side will lock horns against the Bangalore franchise on Sunday, April 2 at the M. Chinnaswammy Stadium. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma will also try to regain his form as he was not able to score a single fifty in the last edition.
